North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell was one of the favourites for last year’s NAB Rising Star award before suffering a season-ending leg injury against Adelaide in round 12.
The highly-regarded midfielder, who signed a new three-year deal with the Kangaroos last month, is effective in contested situations and uses the football well. Ziebell’s 10 games last season will hold him in good stead for this year.

A hot contender in the NAB Rising Star award is Richmond young gun Dustin Martin who will be an integral part of the Tigers midfield for the next decade. The 18-year-old has impressed during the pre-season and appears to be a near certain selection for the season AFL opener against Carlton on March 25 and punters will shorten his NAB Rising Star odds.
